Non-interest banking

At Stanbic IBTC Bank, we offer you non-interest banking also known as Islamic banking or finance. This system of banking does not charge or receive interest and is compliant with the tenets of Islamic law.

Some of the benefits of your Imaan account are access to non-interest based facilities and provision of the same convenient features that are characteristic of Stanbic IBTC Bank’s current accounts, including easy access to account, salary domiciliation, availability of money on demand, electronic deposits, cash and cheque deposits, cash withdrawals, standing payment orders, prepaid airtime purchases and transfers between accounts, among others.

Shariah does not allow the payment or acceptance of interest charges (RIBA) for the lending and accepting of money, as well as carrying out trade and other activities that provide goods or services considered contrary to its principles.
